A ND Family of 4

Trumpeter Swan numbers in Minnesota have increased dramatically; they are also expanding their breeding range out of Minnesota.

This family photographed on my drive to Delta Marsh is over 100 miles west of the state line. Cool, but it will lead to complications.

In ND we hunt Tundra Swans. Distinguishing the two is not realistic for many hunters. Eventually, managers will have to address the occasional take of Trumpeters.

It shouldn’t be a big issue. Trumpeters are expanding and can clearly handle some incidental take.
