Delta Banding going well

Our banding crew at the Delta Marsh has well over 1,800 birds banded this month.

Many hunters think that maps that show the distribution of harvested birds (like shown above for Delta banded Mallards) are the primary goal of banding. Not so!

Banding data are critical for harvest rates, population estimation, and measures of survival rates.
