Delta Science Forum - cool new results
Day 1 of the Delta Science Forum is in the bag. When asked about my biggest surprise I would say it was new information about Pintail population biology.
For decades we thought prairie and arctic Pintails interchanged a lot, with prairie birds overflying dry prairies to nest in the arctic in many years. WRONG.
The two populations have over 90% separation. Moreover, the arctic population is now stronger than the prairie population – a shift that occurred in 2006. Wow.
