Too many big beautiful birds?
Occasionally wildlife management is too successful. Too many deer negatively affect forest regeneration and cause highway fatalities.
Too many Trumpeters? Perhaps. Jim Bebo knows all too well that Trumpeters hinder efforts to grow wild rice and other aquatics vegetation for ducks or harvest.
Swans also break Frank’s rule that waterfowl territorial behavior is within species. That applies to ducks, but both exotic Mute Swans and Trumpeters are very aggressive to ducks, geese and a variety of other waterbirds.
Overabundance is a judgement call based on your priorities.
